Although New Hampshire ranks high among students in the United States for reading proficiency on the Nation’s Report Card, about 51% of fourth-grade students in our state are still not reading proficiently. In addition, we have a significant gap in the literacy proficiency rate of children with disabilities and English Learners.
PIC has collaborated with the NH Department of Education and the Bureau of Special Education Supports to develop family-friendly information and resources to help families better understand their child’s reading and literacy development. Developed in Partnership
These webpages and literacy resources have been developed by PIC in partnership with the NH Department of Education, Leaning into Literacy and Bridging the Gap in the 603 initiatives. These initiatives aim to support school districts, staff and families in New Hampshire to build systems for prevention, identification, and intervention for children who struggle to read. The goal is to improve outcomes and academic achievement for all children, including those with disabilities.
